How to Map (solder) buttons over Wiimote buttons. p_1Aug 27, 2010
I have been tinkering with wii crap for a while now and I recently aquired a 5th wiimote. So now its time or make it ugly and mod the hell out of it. My plan is to incorperate it into a gun body by addig my own buttons. I quickly cover old ideas and if your intrested in them check out my old videos for a how-to type video (they do not require you to "destroy" a wiimote). After watching them, one person even asked me to do a video like this but it was a while back. This new concept is not complete yet but the infrastructure is ready. Just gotta stick it in a shell. Items Used: Electronics Solder (Flux core is good) Flux (Not acid, use a "no-clean" flux) Tape for masking* (needs to be heat resistant) Buttons and wires Wiimote (obviously) Soldering iron (Pencil style is best) Metal File, Steelwool, Damp Sponge* (For cleaning iron tip) Third Hand* (for when you say "I need another hand") * These Items are not exactly required. ie, I use a dremel to shapand clean the iron or tape is not needed for persons with good soldering skills. Thanks to Sik for his camera work and the song. Make sure to watch part 2.
ArttXcentriX ~ Re: Foil ArtAug 27, 2010
I stumbled on "Technique of the Week 'Foil Art'" by CapricornArtist73 and it was just the kind of creative challenge I needed. I decided I wouldn't "think" I'd just "do" and see what happened. I didn't have all the materials he used so I ad-libbed with what I had. This is the gift that came out of it, that I made for my best friend who's stood by me and never let go even when I was losing my mind. Thank you so much! Thank you Gary for giving me a creative spark that I could just run with. It was a lot of fun. Be sure to check him out, he is one of the most generous artists on youtube and there is a lot to be learned from him. I'm still learning! www.youtube.com materials used (shortlist): Wood base, latch hook rug backing, aluminum foil (heavy), old nail polish, vintage (metal) Christmas garland, faux metal technique on mache clay and cardstock www.youtube.com found items...giant rusty nail, copper wire, red wire harvested from old radio, gel medium, acrylic paint. Hope you enjoyed and will give it a try, it's a lot of fun! Have a happy and creative day! ~Artt

Instant Magician by Jan TorellAug 27, 2010
Instant Magician by Jan Torell in cooperation with Sonny Fontana This is a wonderful audience participation routine. The performer invites an adult or child onstage dresses them in a magicians costume. The spectator stands with his hands behind his back and the magician puts his arms through the costume and performs some magic. It looks as if the spectator is doing the magic. The magician verbally cues the spectator how to react and the illusion is perfect and very funny. This great idea allows you to reclaim some of that old material in your magical junk drawer. This version also has a feature where you begin by showing a small black bag. You put some magical items into the bag (cards, rope, handkerchief, etc.) then you turn the bag inside out and it transforms into the magicians costume with all the items in the pocket ready to use. This used to be a favorite routine of Lance Burton.

Mountain Park Junk Yard - Holyoke, MAAug 27, 2010
Here is a rough video of the Mountain Park Junk Yard which is located in the woods between Route 91 and Route 5 north of Cedar Knob. Mountain Park amusement park used this site up until the late 1950s when construction of Route 91 cut this area off from the rest of the park. So the the junked cars and trucks are isolated to rust away. In addition to the junked autos, there are all kinds of discarded items ranging from bottles to light bulbs to paint cans and machinery. Between this area and Route 91 was the rail bed for the trolley line service that ran from Mountain Park thru Smith's Ferry onto Northampton. The beginning of this rail bed ran from what is now the road that runs by the large boulder east of the blue pavilion and used to cross over the current ski area road near the old ski area kiosk style sign (the one that is now painted brown), the rail bed continued across what is now Route 91 and headed north to Northampton. The best way to visit the junk yard is to park at the Dinosaur Footprints parking area on Route 5, from there cross to the west side of Route 5 and walk north a few hundred feet till you see the brook on your left (it's behind the guard rail), enter the woods to the right side of the brook and travel west through the woods, the junk yard is a few yards from Route 91. (A special thank you to local historian Robert Schwobe for his input to this post) Also for pictures, please visit the Mt. Tom Billy Goat Blog at mounttombillygoat.blogspot.com
Giving Antiques New LifeAug 10, 2010
Gorit Megan is an architect by trade. After working at an architectural firm, she knew she had a bigger calling in life. One year ago she opened up her own studio called "Junksion," transforming seemingly old and useless objects into works of art and utility. At her studio there are bicycle parts, empty gas tanks, 80-year-old doors and shutters, closets from the sixties, bathtubs, suitcases and more. She says her biggest joy is searching for antique items at flea markets. The source of her inspiration comes from piles of junk. From a telephone receiver she creates a lamp, and from a suitcase - a living room table. [Gorit Megan, Architect]: "The things that I find have to be pretty on their own, even before I do something with them. There are cases when I see something and I immediately know what I am going to make out of it. The ideas always come from the material itself!" The process of her work is to search for an old item and to build it anew. She scraps out the old use for the item, and completely transforms it into something new and refreshing. [Gorit Megan, Architect]: "For example, those gas tanks are gas containers that are being used for refrigeration by air conditioners and the refrigeration industry. At the moment they are empty. It is impossible to refill them. What I make from them are baskets and newspaper stands! I try to give them life in the form of something else." Although Gorit does not view herself as a green artist for the sake of the environment ...
